Neighbors come over. Feast of German potato salad, asparagus, Honey Baked ham (which my father stood 2 hours in line for...) and some "Bouche de Noel" - French yule log cake- so rich and so worth it.
My yearly Christmas present to my mother is going to the Christmas Eve service at our church so the three of us (mom, brother, and myself) can sing in the choir. It's always strange going back to church and I have mixed feelings every time I return. Sure, I respect and admire the fellowship aspect of the congregation and the candle lit service is beautiful. But...I will always have qualms with going to church and it will never be the same as I grow older. Don't want to get into that now though...
A successful eve. A chance to bust out the velvet.
All is well.
